“It’s a Zoo out There!”

You think that a conference for professionals in a field of heavy engineering cannot be #SeriousFun? Think again!

The 2026 edition of the CEDA Dredging Days, took place in the iconic venue “A Room with a Zoo” in Antwerp, Belgium. The theme of the bi-annual event was “It’s a Zoo out There”, which it literally was. The design of most of the sessions benefited from the opportunities the Zoo offered for unique experiences, merging venue, content and the world at large in an engaging cocktail. As you can see from the pictures, if there is a will, there is a way. We co-designed the experiences with the members of the Organizing Committee, resulting in participants having a great time and learning about highly specialized, technical content.

The result

• A 10% increase in participant numbers;

• Motivated participants;

• No people on phone during sessions;

• Strong member involvement; and

• Untold productive dialogues.
