At the APCER & Hotspot 2025, our team transformed serious circular economy issues into a captivating "mountain hiking experience." Beyond knowledge exchange, participants collectively co-created circular actions within the conference.
Creating "Weaving Mountain": Making Circular Action the Conference's Spiritual Symbol
To embody the concept of the circular economy, participants were invited to bring secondhand clothing they no longer wore and collaborate with local artists to sew it into the conference's spiritual symbol—"Weaving Mountain." This successfully transformed personal items into a collective, sustainable memory, serving as a spiritual landmark for the conference and fostering a strong emotional connection and sense of participation among participants even before the formal sessions began.
Intergenerational Dialogue: Seeing the Circular Commitment to the Future
The opening ceremony featured a special "Intergenerational Dialogue." From randomly receiving 120 hand-drawn cards by elementary school students to direct dialogue between the organizers and students during the opening ceremony, the event profoundly emphasized the long-term commitment and impact of the circular economy on future generations.
A Dual-Track Business Matching System Breaks Down Cross-Sectoral Communication Frameworks
To promote substantive business cooperation, the business matching event adopted a dual-track approach: "appointment-based one-on-one meetings" and "on-site group-guided matchmaking." In addition to allowing participants to pre-book potential partners for one-on-one exchanges, an open exchange area was set up on-site, allowing for unreserved participation. Meeting facilitators used pre-designed questions to help participants find unexpected perfect matches. This design successfully encouraged cross-disciplinary interaction among unfamiliar participants, ultimately resulting in 43 substantive matchmaking pairs.
Asia Voices Roundtable Discussions Deepen Substantive Regional Cooperation
The "Asia Voices" session abandoned one-way reporting, creating a relaxed, enjoyable, and highly interactive cross-cultural atmosphere. Through fast-paced roundtable discussions and in-depth one-on-one dialogues, participants directly exchanged views on policy tools and innovative applications with representatives from ASEAN, India, and other Asian organizations. This effectively catalyzed cross-border networking, successfully confirming at least five concrete cooperation projects by the end of the conference.
Through highly interactive design and diverse use of seating, this conference successfully transformed dry topics into highly interactive and emotionally valuable experiences. This journey, akin to a collaborative ascent to a summit, not only deepened the quality of dialogue among partners but also made the conference itself a highly impactful example of promoting the circular economy.
